Passionate About Pets

Whether it’s an emergency or a general wellness concern, with our advanced diagnostics equipment such as digital radiography, ultrasound, EKG, dental X-ray, and in-house blood testing, we can get to the bottom of what’s ailing your pet effectively and efficiently. Our doctors and knowledgeable staff have a great working relationship with local veterinary specialists for advanced treatment and diagnostics.

We also strongly recommend regular annual checkups and wellness visits so we can help you track your pet’s health and catch any impending ailments early. We strive for honesty and transparency and guarantee you will not encounter any surprise costs. We want you to leave with your tail wagging too!

Annual Wellness Examinations

Annual wellness exams are vital for your pet’s general health. It’s a great way to catch minor health problems before they escalate. Beyond a standard physical examination, your vet might also run blood or other tests to evaluate the overall health of your pet.

Surgery

Our skilled doctors perform spays/neuters, mass removals, orthopedic, and many other surgeries in-house. If the surgery requires a specialist’s more in-depth knowledge, we won’t hesitate to refer you to one of our trusted colleagues. We use the most advanced sterilization and anesthetic techniques in our state-of-the-art surgical suite.

Anesthesia

There are some situations where your pet will need general anesthesia or sedation while under our care (dental services, surgical procedures, some anxious or fearful patients for exams or to perform medical diagnostics). Anesthesia is a temporary loss of consciousness, where your pet’s level of consciousness is controlled so they don’t feel pain and don’t move.

We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients.

Dentistry

We’re proud to offer exceptional dental care at Bluebonnet Animal Hospital! This includes teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions, and minor oral surgery.

Did you know the number one health problem affecting 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over the age of three is dental disease?

Ultrasound

We offer full abdominal ultrasounds, including a review by a specialist to help identify and diagnose internal organ disease.

Ultrasound is a non-invasive test that allows us to see organ tissue and movement in real-time and in more dimensions than traditional X-rays.

Echocardiography

Echocardiography, or an ultrasound of the heart, is a painless and non-invasive way to detect and diagnose acquired heart disease.

All of our echocardiographs are reviewed by board-certified cardiologists before a treatment plan is recommended for your pet.

Microchipping

We place a small Home Again microchip under your pet’s skin so that in the event your pet is lost, he/she can more easily be returned to you even if they’ve lost their collar.

Nutrition Counseling

A proper diet is the foundation of a healthy and happy pet. It’s vital that your pet maintain a proper weight. Furthermore, correct nutrition can also manage many medical conditions.

Let our staff help determine your pet’s best diet. This one simple factor can prolong a happy life for your best buddy by years!

Behavioral Counseling

Our doctors and staff obviously love animals, and we have spent the better part of our lives devoted to caring for them in all stages of their growth and development. Sometimes they begin to exhibit behaviors such as aggression, excessive barking, chewing, spraying, and other nuisances. If you need help correcting these or any other issues, please set up a consultation with one of our doctors. We’re here to help!

Health Certificates

For pet owners “on the go,” we offer both Interstate and International Health Certificates. Call to schedule your pet health certificate examination or to get more information.

Our health certificates are Accredited for International and Domestic Travel. Please contact us if you have any special travel needs.

Pharmacy

Our in-house pharmacy offers a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, shampoos, flea and tick control products, and heartworm preventatives.
